Yesterday and again this morning I bumped into Dr. Jeremiah Gibbs. A chap who organises Camino tours but also has a number of YouTube videos on the Camino that I happened to watch before we came here. We said hello to him and some of the group of 30 students from Illinois that he is guiding along this section of the Camino from Astorga to Santiago.
Molinesca was a stunning town, and a run down house with empty pool and land just outside of town with a for sale 10,000 euro sign was extremely tempting.
The track was varied today, this morning country roads through small towns until we hit ponferrada. This is a small city of around 65000 population but is ideal for shopping from my new house and has an extremely impressive Knights Templar castle. Unfortunately it's closed on Mondays. As is the cathedral and most of Spain. So we walked through admiring the city. Out the other side we resumed our usual mix of country roads and tracks through fields.
It was a much flatter, and more enjoyable walk today, and Nik was in especially high spirit with little discomfort throughout his battered body!
It was a steady walk stopping occasionally for food or drinks until we arrived at tonight's town, Cacabelos. Another typical small Spanish town, but the restaurant next door offers the Templar Burger which is made of horsemeat. So that could be another one of the list of stuff to try!
Have a great evening pilgrims. We are back with a strong stride and ready to walk on!
