At the end of the 60 day workout, with all the effort of organisation done, it is time to give the full load out a test.

The weather is not looking too bad, so at 10.30 A.M. I meet my friend Justin in Huddersfield. He is crazy enough to agree to a test walk with me to Leeds, on the promise of burgers and beers on arrival.

The first few miles takes us along the Huddersfield canal, passing by Huddersfield centre and heading out towards Leeds. 90 minutes or so in and we reach cooper bridge, where the canal turns and heads towards brighouse.

It's also the location of Huddersfield's (far superior) version of fried chicken - Marston's, a good refuel stop.

Bellys full, we set out again, this time following the A62 to Leeds. A long trudge along the road was broken with a short stop at the Greyhound for half a Yorkshire Blonde ale.

After a total of 18.9 miles and just over 6 hours we arrived in Leeds.

Sore feet and ankles, but no major issues. The loaded weight is good, the shoes and socks combos work, and the bag raincover keeps the pack dry.

7 weeks to go...
