Day 1 - 13km Porto to Matashinos

Today was mostly a travel day with an early start, Andrea and I meeting in Porto Airport around 10 am and then the Metro into Porto. We wandered the streets to Cathedral Se where we got our credentials. After a pizza and an inaugral beer we set of on the "Senda Litoral", the coastal camino route that follows the Douro river out of portugal. We soon hit the sea and walked along promenades in the sun, stopping to look at a small lighthouse, flowers and beaches.

People discuss the camino provides, or circumstance on the camino and so on. And todays coincidence - it had not been 2 minutes since I mentioned that we need to stop soon as i need the loo, when a chap came up to us asking if we were walking along the sea front for a while as he had left a bar about 1km ago in the direction we were walking with the toilet key!

We kindly returned it for him, and i had the most vibrant gin i have ever seen.

Tonights hotel is nice, seafood for dinner later to prepare us for a full day tomorrow.

Its a very different start to the onwards and upwards experiance of last year!
