Day 6 - 18.2km - Caminhos to Oia

information first: andrea is writing this blog because gary is trying to get by without a cell phone for three days. After the unexpected 30km yesterday we had dinner in the room. There was tortilla, some fruit and cider from the supermarket. Without Gary I probably wouldn't have eaten yesterday. I was so tired.

The day started early with breakfast at 07:30. Today it should only be around 20km, but as we have already experienced several times, you cannot rely on the well-known apps or travel guides. So we wanted to stubbornly follow the yellow arrows. However, the day started with a change of plan. Directly in front of the albergue a free taxi started which takes the pilgrims to a taxi boat. €6 per person for the fast boat ride was definitely worth it. The ferry hasn't run for a long time. The taxi boat dropped us off directly on a beach much further to the left than planned. So we went along the route along the coast, which is actually a bit longer.

the path in Galicia is very varied. rocky coast, forests, villages. it feels instantly familiar. already the first day in spain reminds of the last third of the camino frances. The weather was mixed. Not particularly sunny, but the UV radiation on the coast is enough for me to unfortunately get a slight sun allergy. Only a cold shower helps. And we got it after almost 20km. we paused a few times to enjoy the beautiful view. So it was a relaxing day overall. Enough time in the afternoon to wait for the only restaurant in this small town of Oia to open, typically Spanish, at 8 p.m.
