After another good, included breakfast we set out in our shiny new ponchos. The path today offers two routes. A coastal path or a more central path. As we will shortly move away from the coast and inland towards santiago, we took the coastal route today. Which was longer. Sensible move.
Ponchos are good at keeping the rain off. But not great at keeping you dry. Walking under a thick sheet of plastic in 25 degree weather gets you almost as wet with sweat as if you just get rained on. But at least it keeps the stuff in your pack dry.
The path meandered along the coast, occasionally dropping us for short walks in the sand. It was a pleasant route though with the on and off rain it was a bit more of a "trudging along" type of day.
After lunchtime the sun came out so the ponchos got packed away. We stipped at a spanish bar for a coffee but none of the food was inspiring. So we continued along. Then as we entered the very outskirts of vigo we reached a spot with a few outdoor pools, hundreds of screaming kids and a big yellow M.
Yes. We skipped all the spanish food and went for a mcdonalds.
It gave us the calories we needed. And thats all you can ever really hope for at mcdonalds...
The path from there into Vigo was very long and by busier roads. Vigo is quite industrial with ship building industry and was not the most beautiful so we were happy to arrive at the hotel.
The old town of Vigo is the other side of todays walk and is much prettier than the path into the city.
Shattered again, and with the blister still bad, we got some bits from the supermarket and some tacos from the mexican place nearby and chilled with a bit of breaking bad.
Sleep well pilgrims. Its the last sleep of my 30s!
